Palazzo Versace: Desinger Hotels Post #1
POSTED BY David DeMille IN Culture, Things We Love @ March 2, 2012 - 11:36 am

I've been obsessed with travel lately. Obsessed. The Palazzo Versace hotel, located on the Gold Coast in Australia,  has actually been on my travel list for a while now, but my curiosity got the better of me and I started cheating on Versace searching for other designer hotels and found more fabulous than I was prepared more, each hotel with their own unique set of services, styles, and indulgences. I quickly realized that in order to give these world class hotels and resorts the attention and in depth discussion they deserve, I'd need to break this up into several posts. Thus begins the  four part series featuring the most fashionable hotels in the world.

So without further ado my jet set ladies and gentlemen:

Palazzo Versace

So you've probably figure out by now, that I'm somewhat of a Versace fan boy. I've long been a fan of their high class punk aesthetic, and impressed by their willingness to stand out, be different, and shake things up a bit. When I found out they had an entire resort, I might have freaked out a little. To me, as a long time fan of Versace, the idea is enthralling: Sleep in Versace bedding, eat on Versace dinnerware, and browse the selection at the in-hotel Versace boutique. But that's only the beginning, Palazzo Versace offers the following:

Palazzo Versace Spa:

With an impressive collection of offerings from all day spa packages (drool) to professional nutrition and fitness services, Versace wants to make sure you're looking and feeling your best. Assumedly catering to the celebrities that often frequent Palazzo Versace, this service is great for those that can't take a vacation from their workout.

The full list of services include massage, access to the pool, steam room, and sauna, facials, waxing, spa cuisine and more.

Palazzo Versace Restaurants:

Palazzo Versace offers four different restaurants: Le Jardin, Il Barocco, Vie, & Vanitas, each with their own distinctive decor, and dining style.

Vanitas (pictured above) is the fine dining option, offering a menu of modern gastronomic creations from chef Steve Szabo, as well as an award winning wine cellar. Inspired by Gianni's book "Do Not Disturb", Vanitas features a 39 ft mural painting of Gianni Versace's loves and life.

Le Jardin, French for "The Garden" is aptly named, featuring bright colors, mosaics, views of the sparkling pools, and a focus on freshness. The menu also reflects this, with a focus on fresh seafood and other light offerings. My mouth started salivating, however, after reading about the selection of pastries, scones, champagne and coffees that come with Le Jardin's "Fashionista High Tea".

Il Barocco is Versace's take on a casual buffet, just. . . ya know. .  Versace-fied. I'm not a huge fan of buffets myself, but I guess I'd give Versace's a chance if the opportunity arose.

Vie, the most modern of Versace's culinary offerings, features a view of the boats in the marina, as well as a view of the boardwalk. The decor is ultra modern, comprised of stainless steel and marble. Locally sourced ingredients and light preparation sets this restaurant apart from the other three.

Palazzo Versace Marina:

Now personally, I'm a jet set kind of guy, but you sea-faring folk will want to check out the Versace Marina. Their website boasts of privileged entry to restaurants, bars, and the spa, but honestly with the list of services Versace offers, why would you leave your yacht? Versace can clean, decorate, and cater the guest boat for a weekend getaway, or if that's not fancy enough, you can hire a personal chef to board your boat and prepare custom creations for you sea-side. (I wonder if they'll cook what you catch?)

Versace Boutique at Versace Palazzo:

What Versace resort experience would be complete without. .  well. . .  Versace. Get the latest and greatest from the Versace runways at their in-hotel boutique.

So. . . just so we're clear. . . you can start your day with a personal trainer and custom snack, progress to high tea, followed by a massage, facial, and a steep in the sauna, rounded out by world class dining and a shopping spree. Where do I sign up?

Is this designer getaway right up your alley? Or are you craving something a little less. . .  obvious. We want to know!
